On Friday I went on an IES excursion to see a couple chateaux. The first one, Fountainbleau, I decided to call the economy class chateau. While georgous, the builders did a little scrimping. for example, most of the marble on the walls was not real marble, rather the walls were just painted to look like marble. they went with the same theory for some of the wood too. Also, instead of carving intricate frames and gilting them, for the most part, they just painted them onto a flat surface, wall or ceiling. The second Chateau, Vonte de Vicomte, was smaller, but had some of the most georgous gardens i've seen. Interesting to note that it's the chateau where the man in the iron mask took place, and they even have set up a manniquin in an iron mask for tourists' viewing pleasure. Enjoy some pics...

On Saturday, I had a dinner party here, at the Ruszkowski's, for some of my friends. food fare included herb battered roasted chicken, pasta with sauted vegetables in a herb wine sauce, green salad with a real french vignagrette, a cheese plate, fruit salad, and chocolate covered strawberries. As well as some wine, of course. I think everyone was happy...
The rest of the weekend I spent hanging out, doing some work, doing some last minute shopping, and enjoying myself!
bisous!
